Last night each of my girls came in to talk with me about a faith issue--separately. They had some questions about fasting. Our church is on a prayer journey together. One of the disciplines that we are exploring is that of fasting. Each of the girls had their own questions about it. It was great just to talk through it together.
Having been on this parenting adventure for almost 18 years, I often find myself asking the question, "How can Greg and I lead our children in their growing relationship with Jesus."
More than anything else, I want my girls to love Jesus.
God designed the family to be the perfect, primary environment for kids to grow in their love for Jesus. Don't get me wrong--there is nothing about our home that is perfect. In fact, most of the time, the chaos in our home doesn't nurture and encourage the things that I know are most important to God.
BUT--occassionally, I can see how God is working in and through our dysfunction.
It's conversations like the ones last night that remind me that we are at least on the right path. AND give me the boost that I need to hang in there.
That's fantastic. What a wonderful mom you are, so wise and so eager to have your girls come to you. That's cool. Want to share more about fasting? I would love to know what you told them...
